The month of August is considered by many as a time to reflect on how we treat the environment, just as Ray Anderson, the founder of Interface Carpets, did in 1994. For Ray, it was an epiphany he had after reading Paul Hawken’s book “The Ecology of Commerce.” The rest is history. Ray not only changed the course of Interface, but he also changed the flooring industry, and the world of manufacturing forever. Before Ray, no one ever spoke the word “sustainability.” Now it’s so common in the lexicon of flooring that it is often misused or misunderstood.
